Welcome to MardiGras.FM The sole purpose of this site is to bring you the music of the "Greatest Free Show on Earth", Mardi Gras from New Orleans, Louisiana! Mardi Gras has been a tradition in the Crecent City since the 1730's. The celebration has morped from Society Balls to open parading. The music of the Mardi Gras in New Orleans has been branded by the incredible Brass Bands & the Mardi Gras Indians. Additionally, through the years, there have been many pop and R&B musicians that have written and recorded their own anthems that pay homage to Carnival. Amongst the most well known, were Professor Longhair and Al 'Carnival Time' Johnson. During the season we take all 3 of these different types of Mardi Gras music and mix it together to make a New Orleans gumbo of Mardi Gras music, in an attempt to bring the parade and revelry to you.
